We got away from Bean Station this morning at about 9 AM.  Dennis wanted to see the museum at Oak Ridge.  Since I attended 2nd grade there in 1943, I found it very interesting also.  The exhibits related to the Manhattan Project are well done and pretty logically presented.  Unfortunately, they' tried to cover everything else ever done by the AEC, etc., anywhere in the country, plus getting into energy policy from the first coal mine to modern energy research.  All somewhat chaotically organized.  An enjoyable 3 hours, but it could have been a lot better.

Since we left BS with full H2O and empty holding tanks, I couldn't see spending $25 for a place to park.  We're at Sam's in Jackson, TN, 355 miles from BS, planning an early departure tomorrow.  I'll probably find an excuse to stop in Arkansas tomorrow; if not, we'll be near Dallas when we report again.

None of Dennis' photos through the rainy windshield are worth posting. :-(  We'll try to do better tomorrow.

  1. Good job my man. I know right where you are. 135 miles from us.

  2. In Las Vegas, there is the Atomic Testing Museum, if you want to keep the theme going.
